The Monterey Bay Defense Alliance (MBDA) is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing, growing, and protecting the national security assets of the Monterey Bay Area. What began as a community effort to safeguard local military installations has evolved into an active mission: building the advocacy, relationships, and infrastructure that make every Team Monterey organization stronger.

MBDA engages local, state, and federal government on behalf of the region’s 15 DoD activities — in ways the installations themselves cannot. We connect military leaders with community partners, champion legislation that supports the military mission, and make the case that what happens here in Monterey matters to the security of our nation.

We are a pending 501(c)(3) nonprofit, membership-based organization. Our members include individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and local governments who share a common belief: that a strong military presence makes Monterey Bay stronger for everyone.
